The first thing that becomes apparent when entering each new area is the fantastic quality of the presentation. Leaving Lyndow's landscapes stretch far into the distance, even when indoors, and the presence of the sun and clever lighting techniques in general manage to evoke a strong sense of character and atmosphere for each area. The soundtrack, too, manages to suit each area superbly, resulting in some excellent, fantastical moments.

Remember the first time you fell in love? That's the experience, heartbreak and all, that Mountains Studio creates with Florence, which follows a young woman through her first grown-up love affair. Kevin Penkin created an intimate soundtrack of chamber music, with a piano representing Florence, and a cello for the voice of her lover, Krish, who is actually a cellist in the game.

Kevin rounded up some friends from his music conservatory days, as well as his former flute teacher to perform the soundtrack. He said hearing his music performed live by them was one of the best experiences ever.

There's a sadness to the game, but in just half an hour it manages to complicate this feeling by acknowledging that leaving one part of our life behind for a new one brings with it an innate sense of hope. The soundtrack switches from a lone, melancholy flute to a lush orchestral arrangement in a major scale to push this impression forward.

Proteus is a game about exploration and immersion in a dream-like island world where the soundtrack to your play is created by your surroundings. Played in first-person, the primary means of interaction is simply your presence in the world and how you observe it.

Soar through virgin skies and dive into lost oceans as you hunt for the ancient gods of the Inverse, a forsaken realm of inside-out planets. Created by a small team of seven developers and originally funded on Kickstarter, InnerSpace is a bright, colorful exploration flying game with no horizons.
